Answers to the most commonly asked questions.
What is included in the tariff?
Everything. We provide all bed linen, bath sheets and hand towels, kitchen towels, dishwasher tablets and a starter pack of cleaning materials for the kitchen. Our tariffs also include all electric used during your stay. Our properties have controllable, electric, heating in all rooms. Water is all heated by electric. There are no hidden extras!!
Is there a hairdryer in the property?
There are 2 hairdryers, one in each bedroom.
Can we bring pets?
We regret we are unable to accommodate pets.
Is smoking allowed?
A non-smoking policy (including the smoking of E-cigarettes) operates throughout the properties and grounds of ‘Composers at Woodlands’. The use of BBQ’s is not permitted.
Where are the nearest shops?
1 mile from ‘Composers’ is an M&S ‘Simply Food’ and an Asda. Within 2 miles are Tesco, Co-op, Aldi and Morrison’s stores. In Berwick centre is a variety of food and non food shops. The Berwick street market takes place on a Wednesday and Saturday.
Are the pillows and quilt hypo-allergenic?
Yes.
How far is the nearest beach?
Cocklawburn beach is 5 minutes away by car. You can walk, but it is quite a steep gradient. OK for the outward journey but a little more difficult on the return.
Do you have WiFi?
Holidaymakers often need to keep in touch with their home, business and friends whilst they are way, so we provide a free Wi-Fi connection for all guests. It operates 24/7 and is designed for general internet access, to check emails and browse – we are governed by the speeds our BT provider offers.
What is provided in the holiday accommodation?
We hope we have incorporated everything anyone could need for their comfort and convenience. The kitchen is filled with crockery, glassware, tableware and utensils to enable guests to enjoy everything from a quick snack to a gourmet meal. Alongside the microwave, hob, full oven, ‘fridge and separate freeze and dishwasher, the cupboards also hold a variety of additional ‘goodies’ such as George Forman Grill, baking trays and tins, wine chiller, storage containers and (of course) bottle opener. Throughout the property we have added many features to help guests feel at home from the moment they arrive.
If there is something a guests requires, and we don’t have it, we will do out best to find or source it for them!
Bikes & Golf
We have on site storage for bikes and golf bags/carts. Please contact us in advance, to let us know, so we can provide the space you require.
‘Composers’ is in the north sector of the regional ‘Sustrans’ National Cycle Network. Guests who would like to cycle whilst on holiday can also rent from a local supplier(prior booking is advisable). There are several golf courses within 10 miles of ‘Composers’ and they all welcome visitors.(book in advance)
Is it possible to see the area on foot?
Our holiday properties are close by the Coastal Path, a recognised part of the National Circuit.
We are within easy reach of a variety of walks along coastal routes, hills and fells, and (of course) the walk around the famous ‘Berwick Walls’.
How can we organise a visit to the Farne Islands?
Seahouses Harbour (about 25mins from ‘Composers’) is the base for a number of companies who all arrange 2, 3, or 4 hr trips out from the mainland to the various islands which comprise the ‘Farnes’. It is always dependent on the weather and Guests are advised to contact the company to obtain up to date 'Met. Weather' to help pick the best time and day for such a visit.
What public transport is available?
There is a bus stop 500 yds from ‘Composers’.
The local buses operate both to Newcastle and Edinburgh from the same stop as well as
providing links to other regional towns and villages.
The train station is located at the north end of Berwick with intercity services, hourly, to Edinburgh and Newcastle.
Taxis operate from the train station and the town centre.
How do we find out about local tourist attractions and desinations in the area?
In each property the ‘Guest Welcome Book’ provides over 20 pages of information giving details of attractions, venues, restaurants, places to visit and tourism sites which are within easy reach of ‘Composers’. Of course, browsing the internet provides a wealth of information which many people use as their information source prior to and during a visit.
We want to invite friends to visit us at Composers – can we?
Guests are welcomed to invite non resident guests to visit them during their stay. We ask that Guests do not overlaod the properteies with too many visitors, at any one time, and also let us know when non residents will be on site. This helps us comply with our Health, Safety & Insurance policy. Non resident guests are asked to vacate the site by 20.00hrs.
Arrival & departure times – can you alter them?
If guests are unable to arrive during our normal access time (16.30 - 18.00hrs) we can, by prior arrangement, arrange alternatives. Please note that our normal departure time is by 09.30hrs. We try to offer earlier access at off peak times/seasons and will always try to help a guest with their planning. A later departure is possible by prior arrangement – subject to the property not being required by incoming guests the same day.
