This time last year The Composer was knee deep in snow. This year he’s knee deep in sunshine! The Beast from the East has not returned and would not be welcomed if it did! Curiously, the effect of those dreadful days was to see many motorists stranded in a place they often drove past, but were glad to find refuge and warmth in during their enforced stopover. Stranded motorists commented positively on social media about the welcome they received from the people of Berwick when they were snowbound.
Now in 2019 Northumberland has received the ultimate tourism accolade – the UK’s favourite Gold Award tourism destination as voted for by the public. The accolade, normally won by our tourism friends (are they really!!??) in the Lake District or Cornwall, have had to take a back seat this year as the Border County has scooped the top prize. So without blowing too big a trumpet, The Composer greets the new season with a ‘told you so’ attitude. We have known for a long time that the welcome, the scenery and the attractions of Northumberland are truly unique – and well worth exploring. Now we have confirmation!!
Being in the top spot comes with some apprehension. ‘Composers’ has always been a 5 star holiday accommodation provider. Now in 2019 we await our annual inspection and hope to retain that cherished acknowledgement. It’s not just to do with the properties but has to do with the welcome and service provided. Something ‘Composers’ is proud of.
So as we enter March, the round of cleaning and preparation has been done, the painter and decorator has been round, the maintenance crews have checked their lists and the gardeners have been hard at work planting and preparing for the season.
Most important, we have our staff ready to look after every guest. The team is ready to welcome guests and bookings are filling popular dates as people plan ahead for longer holidays and those, all so important, short breaks which are fast being an essential part of life. Whatever you choose – be assured, we are here for you.
