It may have slipped your attention but, SUMMER is here! Aficionados of the seasons will have been poised to welcome the summer sun on Sunday 20th June. The plethora of news from around thew world, the effects of CV19 changes and the media frenzy over sport seems to have pushed SUMMER into the background. Not at Composers!
The Composer and Mrs C have been on holiday! Well, in truth they sat outside the summer house and ‘felt the rays’! And yes, they were wonderful. Warm balmy afternoons (once the day jobs were done) allowed for a little R&R and the chance to get out the Factor (whatever!) and risk baring skin to the sun.
June arrived and ended with a raft of guests, some who had booked many months ago, and a few who suddenly felt the urge to take in the fresh air (and sun) of Northumberland and booked at short notice into the few gaps left in the calendar. They have not been disappointed – apart from finding it difficult to book restaurants – and have enjoyed wide open spaces, glorious coast and countryside and the wealth of small villages dotted throughout the area.
Composers at Woodlands also received another accolade in June, from AirB&B. We are now classed as ‘SUPERHOSTS’. The reason? Well, according to Air, we have greeted, welcomed and looked after many guests who all give ‘Composers’ 5-star reviews. We are now classified as a ‘trusted symbol of hospitality’! Well, the summer just got a whole lot better!
Restaurants have had a hard time nationally and here, in North Northumberland, many are beginning to re-open in a very cautious manner, observing the rules and regulations which allow them to finally accept paying diners.
The whole of the hospitality industry has struggled and we hope to support OUR local business throughout the summer as they re-open. Sadly, that means The Composer and Mrs C will have to eat out, supporting the local economy and checking that local restaurants and eateries are truly delivering the best that our region can offer. It’s a tough job but, as they say, ‘someone has to do it’!
Here’s to a long summer and dining out in Northumberland – bring it on!!
