The Composer spent last weekend doing what we all do – changing the clocks. With 4 properties, and numerous devices in each requiring attention, it was a herculean task. Bernstein offered a glimmer of hope. The kitchen clock is digital and controlled automatically, so it changes without aid – as does the outside Courtyard clock. The rest need a ‘manual’ touch! Now it’s all done and The Composer sighs with relief.
Clock watching has also meant not missing the evening news or ministerial broadcasts to discover what lockdown measures are being introduced and how these affect our travelling Guests. Berwick and North Northumberland has been spared the devastating outbreaks found in many other places. But this can all change so rapidly.
October flew by. November looks set to bring storms, dark nights and gloomy days. Terrorism still threatens our world, the economy is shrinking, unemployment is rising, halloween trick or treat is stalled, Remembrance Services are scaled down, bonfires & firework shows are cancelled and the mention of Christmas sends a shudder down the spine of families, faced with limited or no contact with loved ones. The Composer wants to cheer everyone up!
But how? The cheery news is that ‘Composers at Woodlands’ announces the 2021 rates. Such news will hardly set the world alight nor will it get a mention in any newspaper, but it is important to us! We guarantee full refunds on deposits and balances if a guest books and we are unable to welcome them due to a regional lockdown of our area.
